The ifp. Manifesto

Our Mission Statement

It is our firm conviction poetry has been trapped behind locked gates for too long. It’s been suffocated by ivory towers, polite tea parties, and the crushing weight of canonical tradition. We aren’t here to burn the establishment down—we’re here to unlock those gates and let the pulp in.

itsfuckingpoetry. (ifp.) is a decentralized collective of poets, editors, and visual agitators dedicated to disrupting the traditional boundaries of verse. We believe poetry is not a static artifact to be archived, but a living, breathing friction point where language collides with hybrid forms, raw emotion, digital culture, and human processes.

Through radical collaboration and a roundtable review ecosystem, our collective operates as an incubator for the bold, the gritty, and the uncompromisingly authentic. We channel our shared energy into a diverse arrangement of publications—from highly curated, experimental web drops and monthly process blogs to stylized digital anthology downloads and zine pop-up issues.

Our mission is to build a contemporary home for poetry+ content, amplifying voices that refuse to be quieted by academic refusal. We exist to pull back the curtains in the messy, vital spaces where poetry fuses (+), and to prove that when writers collaborate instead of compete, the resulting ink bleeds a little thicker.

ifp. is more than a collection of digital pulp poetry journals; it is a collaborative playground for underground poetry+. After all, itsfuckingpoetry.

Core Pillars of the ifp. Collective

  • Radical Collaboration: Shifting the editorial paradigm from isolated gatekeeping to a shared, roundtable collective where every voice shapes the final curation.

  • Poetry+ (hybrid genres): Celebrating the intersection of text, visual medium, and genre-bending experimentation.

  • Uncompromising Authenticity: Prioritizing raw, urgent, and visceral truth over polite, traditional form.

  • High Velocity: Rejecting the typical 6-to-12-month literary submission cycle in favor of rapid, frequent online drops of several of publications.

  • Anti-Elitist / Accessible: Completely open-access, un-paywalled, and actively pushing back against traditional poetic gatekeeping.
