I Thought You Were Dead
Yes, I thought you were dead,
And that is how you remained to me.
There were too many issues between us
And too many stacks of paper cut problems
That when I ran away, your death was forgiveness.
And yet you remain alive to the world I must inhabit.
As if my sunken sorrow for mourning should ever shift
From death to the death of a relationship. Death be the way
Of ending. The world built to succeed any other form of ending.
